Bruxism is a common stress response and responds very well to hypnotherapy & EFT.
Most people with Bruxism are unconscious of the fact that they are clenching or grinding their teeth. Perhaps their teeth grinding happens in their sleep and their only clue that they are damaging the surface of their teeth is the bi-annual advice from their dentist. Mouth guards can protect your teeth to some extent but they expose us to potential infection or decay between the teeth and require extremely high and consistent levels of oral hygiene.
The best solution is to reduce stress levels so that the need to grind your teeth is reduced and the problem resolves itself naturally.
Most people find that their Bruxism worsens in times of mental, emotional or physical stress so it’s really important to reduce your stress levels as much as possible. When our base stress levels are reduced we can manage more day to day stress without feeling overwhelmed and finding that need to “get a grip” translating to out jaw muscles and out teeth. As we feel more in control our bruxism can become less frequent and/or intense.
To do this we look at the big picture using crisis counselling and coaching – perhaps we need to process unresolved traumatic events from the past, or maybe you need better strategies to cope with everyday stress as it happens. In addition we can look at improving communication and conflict management to resolve or avoid issues escalating into highly stressful situations.
By using Hypnotherapy we can “practise” managing stress in a more effective way – thinking our way through problems to find a solution, staying calm and confident, communicating in a clear and timely way. The unconscious mind can’t tell the difference between a real and imagined experience and so the hypnotic experience is logged as real and gives us “proof’ that we can remain calm and collected in circumstances that might previously have spiked our stress level. By avoiding these spike in stress we avoid the unconscious stress response or teeth grinding or jaw clenching – protecting our teeth, reducing tension in the jaw and the resultant headaches and enabling us to sleep soundly confident that we are no longer incurring irreparable damage to our precious teeth.
Each hypnotherapy session is recorded on MP3 so that you can use it at home to reinforce the changes. In addition I would teach you some simple acupressure techniques to alleviate symptoms as and when they occur.

Typically 3 sessions would be sufficient to clear or significantly reduce habitual behaviour.
The first session is 90mins and next, are 2×1 hour weekly sessions.
